Re: Suggest a movie!
Narc. Good movie. And it only took about 30 producers to make it.

Rampage. Uwe Boll has made a movie which critics are saying is worth watching, and is well made. I would like to hear what you guys think of it.
I loved Jackson's Kong. I don't know what he could have cut out.
Uh, every word out of Jack Black and Adrien Brodie's mouths?
Jackson got a lot of flack in LOTR for spending a lot of time on characters (Frodo in particular) looking emotional in close-up. I don't think that's a problem in LOTR, but I think that's definitely a problem with KONG.
When the ape gets tranked, we spend forever watching in slow motion as he loses consciousness, and the guy who shot him lowers the gun, and Ann looks at him like NOOOOO, and the guy finishes lowering the gun, and Kong is like WHHYYYYY and Ann is like NOOOOO and Kong is like WHHYYYYY and some other character is like WHOOOAAAA and Kong is like WHYYYYY and Ann is like NOOOOO and in a wide shot they're both like WHYYYYNOOOOO...
I mean, there was a lot of that already (see: Boromir's death), but it's like Jackson thought THAT was the reason LOTR made money, so he did it MORE.
You could tighten up the flick so much just by taking the maudlin down to 10. Not to mention cutting out the Jamie Bell character and his mentor, who had half an arc and no payoff.
And just get them to the damn island sooner.
I liked the film but there was a lot of fat to trim. I still haven't gotten around to watching the extended edition and it's not high on my list.
I say someone needs to cut together the 1976 version and the 2005 version into a single cohesive version. I'd take Langue, Bridges, Grodin, and the natives from 1976; Kong and the monsters from 2005. And trim it all down to 2 hours.
Have any of you guys ever seen "Until the End of the World?"
Dead Man! Johnny Depp running around in the best anti-Western Western ever killing white guys with his new best friend, an exiled Native American with a total boner for 18th century English poetry. And an improvised Neil Young soundtrack.
The Fall! Kind of like if Grandpa from Princess Bride was paralyzed from a fall stunt gone wrong and tried to get Fred Savage to bring him enough drugs to kill himself by spinning a tale about bandits, evil governors, and Charles Darwin.

I liked THE FALL a lot, especially visually.
The most interesting thing about THE FALL, to me, was the disconnect between the story each character thought they were telling. The stuntman performs in Westerns. He's telling her a Western story, as far as he knows. But when he introduces the character of The Indian, she pictures someone from India, which completely alters the flavor and understanding of the story in her mind. The tension -- and harmony -- between the story he's telling her, and the story she's telling herself, is really entertaining to watch.
Just finished the '82 version of TRON. Had to watch it after seeing that badass trailer for 'legacy' coming this winter. Even checked out the commentary by the Director and visual effects guys. Glad to see the original director and actors are coming back. I have to say, I've listened to hundreds of commentaries and read dozens of books on behind the scenes movie making, and I seriously need the Cliff-Notes version to how this flick was made. I'm submitting this gem for the DIF teatment. I know that previous commentaries have mentioned effects "AT' and "BT" for after and before TRON. School the minions DIFers. Thanks.
How about The Sixth Sense and other M. Night ventures ... ?
Scientifically speaking, you can only get like 50 minutes into Tron before it devolves into the occasional "huh, neat" and "wtf does this have to do with anything"
Didn't they talk about all this (Tron stuff) on the 1st anniversary show?
One of you crazy fans who listens to each show ten times (you know who you are), can you verify this?
Ooh that would be me I think. Yeah, if memory serves, Trey said he had warned everyone about how it was a bad film to do a commentary on (or just a bad film period ;P) and talks about how he left the room to go and do something and returned to find the others struggling through the same damn scene.
Hmm, I watched Four Brothers last night on TV, I like that movie for some reason.
Also, Bloodsport needs to be done.
Bloodsport will be done if I have my way.
So I just finally saw eXitensZ, and yeah, it's kinda a perfect DIF movie.
Teague probably hates it, though.
eXistenZ is a more docile version of Videodrome, which was wayyy better.
And nothing beats Bloodsport!
The Fly II
You did the first film and you have a compulsion to finish an entire series once you get started with the original film. A lot of people don't even know this sequel exists and it while it's a largely forgettable film, two things stand out.
1. John Getz is the only returning actor from the first film and has some of the greatest puns of all-time.
2. It features the most heartbreaking scene I've ever witnessed.
2010: The Year We Make Contact
it has to be done.
Just finished the One year Anniversary special. Can see now why TRON is impossible to do an intriguing commentary on. Would probably be the equivalent of doing a commentary on a documentary. Which makes me wonder; is there a documentary that warrants a track? I offer "the King of Kong" or "Crumb." I think King of kong is one of the greatest sports movies of all time. It also captures 80s nostalgia and arcade games very accurately.
I recently saw a Korean film called Old Boy. It's dark, complex and fucked up in all the best ways. I would enjoy a commentary of Old Boy.

That film is soooo messed up. Yet so good.
Lucky for us, the remake staring Will Smith and directed by Spielberg (no kidding!) has been tanked.
Cloverfield.
Okay, this is just another in the long list of— hang on. This belongs in Off Topic. I'll see myself out.
