I think my favorite recent insight is Brian talking about the purpose of telling a story, and how some movies you can't tell what that purpose is. Specifically the example he gives "I could give you a three hour lecture on the importance of credibility -- or I can tell you the three-minute story of the boy who cried wolf and get the same point across, and probably more clearly." Or words to that effect. I don't remember the first commentary he mentioned that in, and it actually might not even have been released yet...

I liked FixedR6's suggestion. We've got probably, what, 20 consistent regulars here? Everyone take 5 commentaries, we can do this in a week.

Edit: I'm down for the 5 commentaries idea, I can probably take more, I'm doing anything these days.

Also, if the purpose of this video is to get people to listen to DiF, and I think it is, then there needs to be some snippets that throw out highly controversial opinions, with the sense that listening to DiF will explain them. For example, the seething hatred around Pan's Labyrinth.

Oh, also, throw in clips that use terms ripp'd from the DiF glossary, such as Goldblums, magic beans and "as you know" scene, to hint at, I don't know, mysterious learnin' and stuff.

I'd have to sift through some faves myself, but anything with any of you pointing out magic beans, and/or describing what a magic bean is. I know that info is on this site already, but for purposes of the video, and anyone who might dive right into a podcast before checking the rest of the site first.

I'll take the first 5 episodes. I own all those movies.
