Career Dilemma

Hey Guys....

This might be too off topic but I need to make a big decision and this is a great place to discuss the dilemma I'm in. Also, this is a longish post. Sorry about that

I am currently a permanent employee at an animation studio working on an animated film that is being outsourced by a major US studio. I joined the studio as a fresher about 2 years back, so my pay is lower than the average pay at the studio and won't be incremented anytime soon. The project I'm working on is of high quality but it's not offering any creative challenges and so my learning curve has gone flat.

A friend of mine has opened up a small animation studio and he's asking me to come on-board as an animator and also to be a junior lead of the team. He's offered to pay more than my current salary. But the project he's got lined up is a TV series of pretty low quality and needs to be delivered at a much faster rate. It would be creatively challenging and much more taxing too. But it's not a long term thing and if he doesn't acquire another project, the studio might shut down.

I hope that makes the 2 scenarios clear. Any piece of advice regarding which option I could choose would be of great help to me. Some of you might have faced similar crossroads too. How did you deal with them?

Thanks in advance!!

Very neo-hippy stoner crowd, stadium sized, sloped-lawn seating.

We notice a hubbub as the security team pursues a skinny skater-type individual along the back fence at the crest of the slope. He's shouting about how they want to narc his stash, or whatever. As he makes his way behand and past us-- by now the whole lawn is paying attention to the chase-- my buddy stands up and shouts, "REVOLUTION!!" with no particular plan other than to entertain.

But there's a silent beat among the crowd and then everyone jumps to their feet shouting, and maybe one in ten of them starts running toward the action. The net effect being that the fugitive found himself in friendly cover and the security guys had no hope of making the guy again.

It was not televised, just as that man on the TV had predicted.

Where were you?

It's not movie talk, otherwise it would have went in that thread. Anyway, earlier today on Twitter, Stephen Fry totally owned a homophobe. I won't use the guy's name, instead I'll just call him what he is-

Homophobe- @stephenfry Gay fuck
Stephen Fry- @homophobe Lovely offer, but I'm a) busy b) miles away and c) spoken for. But how very flattering.

Love him. On another note, almost in the same vein. I have a friend on Twitter and from another forum who has a young son. He was at school and the discussion was about marriage. Some kids said marriage is a 'boy' and a 'girl' getting married. Boys can't marry boys and girls can't marry girls. This kid said that girls can marry girls as he was just at his aunt's wedding to another woman. The other kids ridiculed him but he stood his ground and denied there is anything wrong with it. The teacher scolded him for not admitting that same sex marriage is wrong and the school contacted his mother. They demanded that she punished him for the disruption but she refused and told her son she was proud of him.

If you have any general thoughts or stories about your day or something you have seen and it's too long for the chat, you may put it in here
